Career future...

So for those of you that haven't heard, there's a BIG chance i won't be flying anymore. I've been suffering from serious headaches for almost a year now. The flight surgeon told me that it was migraines but sent me to a specialist to be sure. My opinion...the guy's a quack. lol He told me i have sleep apnea so i tried the machine. Two problems here. One...i can't sleep with that mask on since i sleep on my stomach. And two...my headaches have become worse with the machine. At first i was bummed but then decided that everything happens for a reason. I'm thinking i came here to meet my wonderful wife and start our family together.
So now I'm applying for a brand new rate (job) to the Coast Guard. It's called 'Maritime Enforcement Specialist (ME). We'll be the Law Enforcement on the waterways. When i originally wanted to join the rate that looked most appealing to me was Port Security but it was a job strictly reserved for the reserves. With this new rate they'll be ending the PS rate and ME will be taking over that plus more. I'm very excited about this but nothing is official and i won't know if I've been accepted for the job until November 10th. It would be a nice birthday present from the CG! :) haha This job would bring me better chances of advancement and more choices of future stations. Plus i really feel it's where i should be.
I just ask that you all keep me in your thoughts and prayers for this. Like i said before...this job would not only be what i want but would create lots of advancement opportunities which would be great for myself and my family. Thank you all and I'll keep you updated!
